With the rise of Asian economies over the past years, there has been an acceleration of investment flows to and from the East. Direct investment in real estate is "almost back at the pre-crisis level" and increasingly, the impetus is attributable to sovereign wealth funds and institutional capital, much of it from within Asia itself. Asian capital is becoming more important to regional markets as each year goes by.

A mature and saturated domestic market has forced Japanese companies to globalize their footprint by establishing a commercial presence and growing their foreign market share. Economic and demographic changes are set to drive demand for real estate in the global markets: equity and debt capital will continue to be attracted to this asset class, and its deployment will see more diverse investment strategies involving a wider set of markets and property types.

This event will include various views and analysis on current trends in the real estate market both in Asia Europe, the US and globally, with a forecast of what lies ahead.

The event will cover the following topics:

  • Trends in the capital markets, including sources and flows of equity and debt capital;
  • Review of current real estate trends and what is next for 2015;
  • The impact of social and political trends on real estate;
  • Singapore as an investment/fund platform for investments into Japanese real estate;
  • Evolving structures for tax optimized entry and exits – routes for Japanese investments globally.
